spacer Small Business:  Phillips Drug
spacer

Don and Julia Phillips opened Phillips Drug in 1968 and the store has been a family affair from the beginning. The unexpected death of Don Phillips in January 2001, shocked the family and caused them to reevaluate their business plans. With much prayer, the family decided that based on the foundation of excellent employees and family commitment, the business should carry on. The family feels that Don would be proud of how Julia has continued on with the family business.

The store has undergone massive remodeling to make it a better workflow environment for the employees as well as the customers and is poised to provide for future customers.

Don started the tradition of supporting local schools, which continues today. From the time Phillips Drug came into existence, they believed that even though they were a small business, they should provide 100% health insurance and a retirement plan for the full-time employees. Don made this a priority in order to retain caring and committed employees. Don Phillips and the Phillips Drug family represent everything that is good about small business in America. The family dedicates this honor to Don Phillips, his faith, hard work, love for his family, employees, and customers.
